Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

In general, people react differently to the same event because of different cognition. CBT works by helping people to change their cognitions in order to change the way they feel. We want to kind of “bring people to the reality.” The objective is to find that “piece” which influence that affect and move it away.

CBT therapy starts with the assessment and then the therapist tries to find out the triggers and modifying factors. The aim is to reveal what client already knows but have not yet considered.

Talking about triggers, following are some examples of questioning: “Are there any specific situations, objects, places or people who make the difference?”, “Does the problem occur when doing specific activities?” Typical examples of maintaining the issue are: safety behaviors, escape or avoidance, reduction of activity or over-activity, fear of fear, perfectionism or procrastination.
